Chester alumnus offers guidance for new students

When you’re choosing which university to study at, there are few things more informative than the experiences of past students. The University of Chester has published an article by a former MSc Orthopaedics student that details his experiences.

Syed came to study as a postgraduate in the UK because the medical books he had studied with were written by world-respected UK authors, and he hoped to become a part of the NHS. He writes that the University of Chester offered a range of medical postgraduate courses in various medical subjects, unlike most UK universities, which only offered limited basic courses in pre-medical science.

The university has an environment that is beautiful, calm, and natural, and Syed writes about how this, along with support from university staff, helped him to focus on his studies. He also writes about how there was plenty to do beyond studying at the university, adding:

“In addition, there are quite a few other things to explore in the city too—the famous Chester Zoo, the beautiful River Dee with opportunities to go on a boat trip or try rowing/canoeing, the city walls, the museum, and the lively city centre.”

He also writes about how walking daily by the River Dee and visiting the Welsh countryside helped energise him.

There are many reasons to study at Chester, and it has something to offer all tastes. You can also find quality student accommodation in the Garden Quarter and Hoole, which are popular student areas, often with utility bills included in the rent.
