Chester student gives more clearing tips

With results day for A levels and T levels fast approaching, Erin, a student ambassador at the University of Chester, has given five tips for handling the Clearing process.

She first recommends staying calm if you don’t get the grades you need, perhaps taking some time to get your head together if necessary, rather than end up making a rash decision that you may regret.

Once you’re calm, she then recommends spending some time thinking about the right university for you. For example, what sort of city appeals to you? What sort of course would match with your ambitions, and what kind of facilities do you expect from a university?

Next, Erin says it’s time to narrow down the sort of location you want. For example, do you want to stay vaguely close to home, or do you want to go further afield? Would you like the experience of a big city like London or Manchester, or would you prefer a smaller city like Chester? This will be your home for the next few years, so choose wisely.

Finally, it’s time to browse the available places on the UCAS website. Clearing opened on July 5, so you can get ahead and browse the options before results day if you like. If something looks promising, do some research about the things that matter to you, such as by browsing each university’s website.

If you find yourself in need of off-campus shared student housing in Chester, there are options available with no upfront fees and bills included in the rent.
