Chester student wins award for degree result

The Stowe Family Law Prize has been awarded to Chester student Carla Ellis, after getting the highest score among her year group for the Family Law module.

Ellis is 22 and originally from Poulton-le-Fylde. She got the highest result for her overall degree, and will also receive two days of work experience at the Chester office of Stowe Family Law, which focuses on matters like the dissolution of civil partnerships, divorce, arrangements for children and financial settlements.

The managing partner at the law firm, Helen Miller, said about the award:

“It’s a pleasure to offer this award to a University of Chester student. As a firm, we are keen to give something back to future generations of lawyers, and it's great to be doing that with this highly regarded institution, where many leading lawyers have studied.”

She added that the award recognised Ellis’s achievement in getting an impressive score of 85/100 for the Family Law module, and she said she hoped working at the firm would give Ellis even greater insight into family law.

Ellis herself said she looked forward to capitalising on her university experience with a satisfying career, starting with the work experience at Stowe.

The University of Chester attract students wanting a quality education, and the city itself provides a vibrant environment to enjoy while studying. The city also has high quality student accommodation in the Garden Quarter and Hoole, which are located close to the Exton Park and Kingsway campuses.
