Chester Zoo announces Christmas lights trail

Chester’s renowned zoo has announced that its Christmas “Lanterns and Lights” trail will be returning this year, with some exciting changes.

When the illuminated trail returns to the zoo on November 15, visitors will see favourites from past years, such as the glowing tunnels of lights. This year’s event has been made even longer, however, with new animal-themed puppet lanterns adding to the experience. As visitors pass through a series of exotic lands, they’ll be met with an eclectic mix of animal puppets and costumed characters, such as peacocks, meerkats, snow leopards and red pandas, all accompanied by a new soundscape. Guests will also be able to indulge in festive treats at Christmas market stalls along the way.

The zoo’s marketing manager, Heidi Budden, said that new elements had been added to the extended trail to increase the excitement even more, adding:

“It also wouldn’t be Christmas without greeting the big man himself, Father Christmas, as he works away in his workshop with his elves as they make all of the presents. It’s a wonderful evening that plays a part in helping wildlife to thrive, and that’s really special.”

If you want to secure your spot on the festive trail, tickets can be booked through the zoo’s website, with the proceeds being used to support the zoo’s conservation activities. Chester Zoo is a must-see for anyone coming to study in the city, but if you’re focussed more on finding accommodation for now, you can find quality shared student housing in Chester with inclusive bills.
