The first Festival of Ideas in Chester is fast approaching, and among the diverse range of events taking place, there will be an event themed on attracting participation and research into the arts, highlighting regional and international creative collaborations, and developing the arts in general.
Crossing Borders 3: Modes of Capture is a day-long event that has been organised by the School for the Creative Industries at the University of Chester. Leading figures from the International Centre for Community Music at York St John University, the Portuguese National Plan for The Arts, and Arts Council England will be speaking at the event.
The event’s director, Evelyn Jamieson, who is an associate professor and a programme leader for drama and dance at the university, said:
“Crossing Borders is about bringing together individuals, companies, agencies and charities from arts and culture, health and wellbeing, education, and other socially engaged initiatives to share, support and learn together in building collaborative communities through inclusive arts-based practice.”
She added that everyone involved was looking forward to hosting regional and international speakers at the event and demonstrating how partnerships and research can improve the lives of people.
The event is free to attend and open to all comers. It will take place on Friday, July 5 from 9:30am at the Garret Theatre in the Storyhouse. Chester’s lively events schedule attracts many people to study in the city, which has a range of accommodation near Chester university, sometimes with no fees or deposits needing to be paid up front.
