New app helps people to explore Chester

It can take a while to get to know a new place when you arrive to study. Even if you’ve been in Chester for a while now, you may not have discovered all of its secrets yet. Now, however, there’s a fun way to go on a guided tour around the city.

The Treasure Hunt Chester app can be played on your smartphone. The pirate-themed interactive adventure gives residents and visitors riddles and clues to direct them around the city to various places of interest. You’ll get to see many well-known sights, such as the famous Roman walls, the grade-listed cathedral, and the medieval Chester Rows, but you’ll also get to see some of the more out-of-the-way attractions. The app will also take you off the typical tourist routes to some authentic Chester teashops, taverns, and eateries.

Chester.com says that the app gives a:

“…self-guided fun sightseeing tour around this great city in a super fun and interactive way hunting for the city's treasures! This really is the most super fun way to see the incredible city of Chester and learn all about its main attractions and history all from your own phone.”

There’s a lot to explore when you arrive at your student housing in Chester, and it doing it early, either during the summer or early autumn when you arrive in term time will allow you to relax in places like the lush Grosvenor Park, or enjoy a pint outside by the River Dee in between solving clues.
