The zoo has worked with Jess French, who wrote the fantasy book series “Beastlands”, in bringing her literary creations to life. Based on the book series, the experience offers a personalised story in which mythical animals spring to life. It is set in a time prior to French’s novels, in a world populated by mighty beasts. The story’s protagonist Thaddea guides visitors through the experience, which includes immersive projections and is included in the standard admission price for the zoo. Visitors can save up to 20% on this by booking online.
French, who is a presenter on children’s television and a qualified veterinary surgeon in addition to being a popular author, will also be at the gift shop at the zoo’s main entrance from 10am on Thursday, October 31, giving the fans of her books the chance to meet her. Visitors to the zoo will also be able to get their book copies signed and listen to her read an excerpt from her work.
