University of Chester achieves highest CUG ranking

The University of Chester has been ranked in joint 56th place in the latest league table of the Complete University Guide (CUG), putting it firmly in the top half of the table.

The Complete University Guide has been published annually by Mayfield University Consultants since 2008. It is based on scoring ten criteria—such as student satisfaction, spending on facilities, and graduate prospects—which are then weighted and summed up to give a total score. The university performed particularly well on graduate prospects this year, with this helping to drive the university two places up the league table. The university is also now ranked one of the top five in the region of the North West.

Professor Eunice Simmons, the University of Chester’s Vice-Chancellor, said about the achievement:

“This is a really encouraging result and reflects the hard work and commitment of all our staff at the University to providing the best experience to all our students.”

In terms of specific subjects, Food Science got to its highest level in five years after jumping up 10 places to 12th position, and Creative Writing made 16th position after gaining seven places. A number of subjects even made it into the top 10 for student satisfaction.

As well as being a great place to study, Chester is also a pleasant place to live, with lots of cultural heritage and a lively social scene. Quality private accommodation near Chester University is commonly available with bills included in the rent, sometimes also with no up-front fees or deposits.
