University of Chester wins four Whatuni awards

In this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs), the only higher education awards in the UK that are voted for by students exclusively, the University of Chester has won one silver and three gold awards in various categories.

The university was joint highest for nominations in this year’s awards. From these, it came second for University of the Year and won the top awards in the International, Postgraduate, and Student Support categories.

The awards, which are now in their 11th year, were announced in London at a ceremony. The WUSCAs aim is to give recognition to outstanding higher education institutions and showcase those who go the extra mile to support students. It is unique in being the only higher education awards determined solely by student voice.

Professor Eunice Simmons, the University of Chester’s Vice-Chancellor, said her team was delighted that the university received three top awards, as well as:

“…the silver award for University of the Year, in addition to further top 10 placings. It is a tremendous honour to be recognised in this way by our students, and evidences the University’s commitment to the student experience despite the economic challenges the whole higher education sector is facing.”

The university’s success in the WUSCAs reflects its popularity among students and the attractiveness of Chester as a study destination, but good accommodation is key to a pleasant experience.
