University team leader wins national award

A team leader at the University of Chester has won a national award in recognition of her contribution to learning technology.

Laura Milne works at the Centre of Academic Innovation and Development (CAID) as Head of Digital Education. She was recently awarded an individual version of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) Awards, which seek to celebrate outstanding practices, achievements and research in relation to supporting teaching, learning and assessment through the use of information, communication and other relevant technologies. The awards have become a national benchmark since being established in 2007, and attract both domestic and international competitors.

Laura only joined the university in spring last year but soon got working on the vision and strategy for educational technology. She was nominated for the award by the University of Chester’s Dean of Academic Innovation, Professor Jackie Potter, who commented that Laura deserved the award having had a significant effect due to her enthusiasm, expertise, innovation and creativity and focusing her work on benefitting staff and students. She added:

“In a short time, she has made a mark on how we approach and use educational technology at the University of Chester for the better, for students and staff, which is being noticed nationally and reaching far beyond the university to the benefit of many more.”
